Doll watched her mother drop three sugar cubes in her tea and stir it lightly as the hot steam blew in her face. It was eight in the morning, and they had just come from a mile run. She looked over at her mother as she stirred her tea. Her mother was so bourgeoisie and only used fine china and silver spoons for her tea. But she admired her to the fullest. Doll wasn’t a girly girl until she met Jordin. All her life, her mother tried to get her to wear dresses and heels, but all she preferred were Polo shirts and jeans. Her mother taught her style and how to be a lady, so when Jordin said he liked his woman in heels and dresses, she knew how to put it together well.

“What’s going on with you, Dollaysia? You’ve been going running with me every morning and staying overnight when you get off work like you don’t have a man at home.” Her mother, Daria, sipped her tea.

Doll sighed. “I’m only telling you this because you’re the only person I trust these days. Jordin was cheating on me the whole time we were together, and everyone knew, except me. Even Breann.”

Daria shook her head. “I’m so sorry to hear that. So what are you going to do now? You’re still working, right?” her mother asked with concern.

“I’m filing for divorce, and I am going to get my own place. Thank God that I’m still working, and I have so much money in my account. I’ll have my place by the end of the week.”

“That’s my girl. If you need a lawyer, let me know. But you know, your daddy cheated on me, and I didn’t leave him …”

Doll raised her eyebrow. “Daddy cheated on you?”

“Yes, Daddy cheated on me, but I know how to keep my business to myself, even from you. He had an affair when I was pregnant with you. But seeing your little face made him turn his life around. We’ve been together ever since.”

“Wow, so you didn’t beat his ass or anything?”

Daria laughed. “Oh, yes, we fought, we argued, and we cried. And I always kept faith in him. I loved your father, and I knew he loved me, so I stuck it out.”

“Damn. Well, I’m not sticking this one out, tho’. The things I know that he did with that woman, I can’t stand to look at him.” She shook her head.

“Well, do what you gotta do. You got enough money to buy you a man. I know that hospital is breaking you off.”

Doll laughed. “Yeah right. I’m not tricking. But there is this one trainer guy that’s crushing on me. He’s really cute. We’ve encountered each other twice already. I’ve turned him down twice, and he keeps trying. The last time I saw him, he came to Jordin’s shop when I was working there. He was bold enough to give me his card to call him while Jordin was watching.
